ACCESSING GOVERNMENT INFORMATION AND FORMS FOR BENEFITS ETC.

  • Start up the computer (refer to stage 1 documentation)
  • Access the internet (refer to stage 2 documentation)
  • Now you are on the internet (refer to stage 2 documentation if need refresh on how to access website) you will need to visit www.gov.uk

  • Left- click Benefits (you should now see the screen below)

  • If you do not know which benefits you want to claim or if you would like to see which additional benefits you may be entitled to then you will need to click on Benefits Entitlement.

  • Left Click Benefits adviser

  • click the green start now box

  • You should now be on the benefits adviser page

  • You now have 2 options or , or if you have used the benefits adviser in the last seven days, type in your reference number in the box provided and pick up from where you left off
  • Now that you have made a selection you should now see the before you start screen

  • You will now need to make a selection so say if it is for you or for someone else and click the continue button in the bottom right corner
  • You will now begin the form for you to input all of your information

  • You will then need to fill out the form with your details in the different sections.
  • Once you have finished and you now know which benefits you would like to claim you will then need to go back to the main benefits page and click on 1 of the following links:

  • Depending on which option you choose you will see a different page but all are in the following format. 

  • Choose the benefit you would like to claim from the list.
  • You will now see a page that looks like the following image

  • You can now choose from the parts available on the left hand side for more information or to go straight to making a claim, to do this simply click on “How to claim”
  • You will now see a number of ways to claim the specified benefit, for JSA you will see the following window.

  • You will also see the “What you need to know” section which will give you extra information on claiming the specific benefit; an example of this is below.

  • Some benefits will give you the option to complete the application online while others require you to apply by phone call. If there is an option to apply online you will see the option as follows.

  • Click on “claim Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) online.” link and this will start the application process.

  • Click the continue button and you will now be guided through the process of applying for the benefit you are claiming. (This is split up into 3 steps)

  • When you start your application you will be given an online ID and will need to create a password, this will allow you to save the application and finish it another time, however you only get seven days to complete your application in full.

  • You will need to tick the box next to “I have read and accept the privacy policy terms” and then click “Save and Continue”
  • You can now begin the application process and input all of your information. At this point if the client requires further assistance sit beside them and assist but do not fill out the form for them as this will not teach them how to use these forms for the future.

  • When you finish the application you will be given a summary of your application and the opportunity to change details before you submit the application for consideration.
  • Once you have checked your information please click submit.
